From an Italian colony in Brazil, where the rhythmic melodies of horse and buggies painted a tapestry of everyday tales of my early childhood, to the dynamic life of New York, my life has been an anthology of stories…
But as it’s said, ‘Every soul has its own skyline waiting somewhere.’ New York called out to my adventurous spirit.
It was 1997, and with my dreams nestled in my heart, I took the audacious leap, crossing continents and comfort zones. I landed in New York with nothing more than a light suitcase, a heavy accent, and a big dream to learn a new culture. My neat calligraphy and my passion for photography granted me a pass to work as a studio assistant in a small portrait studio. My humble beginning started there, photographing hundreds of young children…
Before I knew it, I started running a whole District with 11 Portrait Studios in New York City, Bronx, and Queens. I became an award-winning portrait photographer, and a photographic trainer, and never stopped learning and improving my craft.
In 2011, I established Carolina Strada Photography, placing an emphasis on Family Portraiture. Soon after, I found myself rubbing shoulders with some of Long Island’s most distinguished wedding photographers, working freelance and further honing my craft. This exposure catapulted my skillset, driving me to a new pinnacle of professional artistry.
Every click of my camera now circles between the rustic allure of simplicity with the electrifying pulse of urban scapes, crafting visual tales imbued with passion, purpose, and undeniable color.
While raised in the countryside amidst the charm of cobblestone pathways, my young eyes were trained to find narratives in the simplest of moments. This intrigue for capturing moments in time in the stark contrast of old and new. My formal education in Social Communications, with a specialization in Propaganda and Advertising from the prestigious Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Campinas, Sao Paulo was a testament to this contrast.
I dove into the world of advertising, traversing sectors from TV to print, where the spark for photography was ignited in the darkroom of a metropolitan newspaper as I donned the dual hats of a Marketing Coordinator and Junior Editor for a leading metropolitan newspaper.
The skyscrapers of New York might have been miles away from the horse-driven buggies of my Brazilian hometown, but the essence of storytelling bridged the gap seamlessly.
Whether it’s working with people or brands, each project is a step towards a greater goal – to use the power of imagery to inspire, to tell stories that matter, and to contribute to a world where authenticity reigns supreme.
My commitment extends beyond the camera. I engage with clients, understanding their journey, their struggles, and their aspirations. This insight allows me to capture not just their external likeness, but the very essence of their spirit. My work is about crafting visual stories that are not only aesthetically pleasing but are deeply rooted in meaning and purpose.
